Activity of the Week: “Step Into the Story”

Perfect for ages 6–12

Pick any book your child is reading and try this:

1. Become the Character

• Ask: “If you were the main character, what would you do differently?”

• Let them act it out (yes, dramatic voices encouraged)

2. Change the Ending

• What if the villain won?

• What if the story took place in your neighborhood?

3. Create a Scene

• Use pillows, blankets, or toys to recreate a setting from the book

• Turn your living room into a forest, castle, or spaceship.

This builds comprehension without it feeling like homework.
